Australia Names Squad for ODI Series Against Zimbabwe, South Africa

Australia has announced a squad of 17 players for their upcoming One Day International (ODI) series against Zimbabwe and South Africa. The team includes several key players as they prepare for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

The series will start with three ODIs against Zimbabwe beginning on September 15 in Harare. Australia will then face South Africa in another three-match series starting on September 24 in Durban.

Captain Mitchell Marsh and opener Travis Head are back in the squad after missing earlier matches. Fast bowlers Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc, who were rested during recent tours, will join the team for the South Africa leg of the tour. Their return adds strength to the team ahead of their Test series against South Africa later this year.

Marnus Labuschagne has been excluded from the squad after a tough run in recent matches. This provides an opportunity for younger players like Joel Davies and Ollie Peake, who have impressed in previous games.

The combination of experienced players and rising stars will help Australia assess their team ahead of next year’s World Cup. The series is seen as important practice for the tournament, which will be hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

Australia’s ODI squad includes Mitchell Marsh, Pat Cummins (only for the South Africa tour), Xavier Bartlett, Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Joel Davies, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Spencer Johnson, Oliver Peake, Matthew Renshaw, Billy Stanlake, Mitchell Starc (only for South Africa), and Adam Zampa.

The schedule for the Zimbabwe series is as follows:
– First ODI: September 15 in Harare
– Second ODI: September 18 in Harare
– Third ODI: September 20 in Harare

The schedule for the South Africa series is:
– First ODI: September 24 in Durban
– Second ODI: September 27 in Johannesburg
– Third ODI: September 30 in Potchefstroom
