BJP Wins Rajasthan Urban Polls: PM Modi Celebrates Truth Over Falsehood

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, September 14, 2026, welcomed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) strong performance in Rajasthan’s urban local body elections. He described the result as a victory of truth over what he called “the echo of falsehood.”

The BJP performed strongly across several parts of the state, winning 4,179 wards in the urban local body elections. The Congress secured 3,613 wards. The BJP also won clear majorities in four of Rajasthan’s 10 municipal corporations.

Reacting to the results, Modi thanked the people of Rajasthan for supporting the BJP. He said the election outcome showed that voters continue to have confidence in the party’s policies focused on good governance and development.

The Prime Minister said the victory would encourage the BJP to work harder for the progress of Rajasthan. He highlighted the importance of improving people’s lives and continuing development work across urban areas of the state.

Modi also congratulated the BJP candidates who won their seats. He praised party workers and supporters for their efforts during the election campaign, saying their hard work played an important role in the party’s performance.

Urban local body elections are important because elected representatives are directly involved in issues that affect people in towns and cities. These include roads, sanitation, water supply, waste management, public facilities and other local development projects.

The BJP’s higher ward count compared with the Congress gives the party a strong position in many urban areas. The results are also politically significant because local elections can provide an indication of public sentiment and the strength of political parties at the grassroots level.

For the BJP, the results are being seen as an opportunity to strengthen its organisation and focus on development in Rajasthan. The party is expected to use the victory to build further support among urban voters.

For the Congress, the results provide an opportunity to examine its performance and identify areas where it needs to strengthen its organisation and connect more closely with voters.

Overall, the Rajasthan urban local body election results have given the BJP a reason to celebrate, while also setting the stage for greater political competition between the BJP and Congress in the state.
