Cybersecurity Concerns Heighten for Private and Startup Employees in Telangana

Telangana State Cyber Security Bureau (TSCSB) data reveals a concerning trend as over 4,272 employees, primarily from private and startup sectors, were victims of cybercrimes out of 10,135 cases reported in March 2024. With 2,863 private employees and 351 IT professionals affected, Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda emerged as hotspots.

The cyber threats range from identity theft to business and investment frauds, with fraudsters impersonating as business entities or offering fake investment opportunities. Startup owners, considered relatively savvy, are also targeted, indicating the evolving tactics of cyber criminals. While larger companies bolster cybersecurity measures, MSMEs and startups remain vulnerable due to cost constraints, emphasizing the need for heightened awareness and proactive measures to combat cyber threats in the digital age.
