EAM Jaishankar Meets EU’s Kaja Kallas at G20

India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas during the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Atlanta. The two leaders discussed several important international issues, including ongoing global conflicts and the need for stronger diplomatic cooperation. They also exchanged views on developments in the Gulf region and discussed ways to coordinate their positions on major global challenges.

This was the second conversation between Jaishankar and Kallas since October 25. During their earlier interaction, they spoke over the phone and discussed international developments. Both sides had used the conversation to understand each other’s positions and improve coordination on important foreign policy matters.

During the first plenary session of the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, Kaja Kallas spoke about the major challenges facing the international community. She highlighted the continuing Russia-Ukraine war and the conflicts in West Asia. She also stressed the importance of international attention and cooperation in addressing these serious situations.

India also shared its position on the ongoing global challenges during the meeting. External Affairs Minister Jaishankar reiterated that diplomacy and dialogue are important tools for resolving international disputes. He stressed the need for countries to work together and find peaceful solutions instead of allowing conflicts to continue.

India has consistently highlighted the importance of respecting national interests while maintaining communication with other countries. Jaishankar’s remarks reflected India’s position that discussions, negotiations and diplomatic efforts can help reduce tensions and prevent further conflicts.

The meeting provided an opportunity for India and the European Union to exchange views on international security and regional developments. Their discussions also highlighted the importance of cooperation between countries and international organisations at a time when several parts of the world are facing political and security challenges.

As global tensions continue, diplomatic meetings such as the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting play an important role in bringing countries together. India’s discussions with the EU leadership showed its continued focus on diplomacy, international cooperation and peaceful solutions to global problems.
