Netanyahu Warns Iran Might Disrupt Israeli Election

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned Iran and its regional allies against attempting to disrupt Israel’s upcoming election on October 27, 2026. He said Israeli intelligence had indicated that Iran and groups allied with it could attempt attacks to interfere with the voting process. Netanyahu warned that Israel would respond forcefully to any hostile action.

Netanyahu made the warning in a video released by his office. He said Israel’s military was prepared to respond to possible threats and was ready to carry out both defensive and offensive operations if necessary. He also warned Iran not to test Israel’s strength, saying any attack would bring a severe response.

Security has become one of the main issues in Netanyahu’s election campaign. He has highlighted his government’s military actions against Iran, carried out alongside the United States earlier this year, and has presented his leadership as important to Israel’s national security.

Netanyahu has argued that his experience dealing with Iran and other regional threats makes security a central issue for voters. His latest warning comes just days before Israelis are scheduled to vote for members of the country’s parliament, known as the Knesset.

Netanyahu said his government had received intelligence indications of possible interference. However, the warning does not establish that Iran or its allies have decided to carry out an attack. The alleged plans have not been independently confirmed publicly.

Netanyahu also attracted attention after sharing an AI-generated image showing a mushroom cloud over Tel Aviv. The post included a message from a right-wing commentator describing Iran as an existential threat to Israel. The image and accompanying message reflected the strong focus on national security in the final days of the election campaign.

Earlier in the week, Netanyahu said he had directed Israeli security agencies to work towards removing Iran’s current government from power. He also shared a video of himself speaking with US President Donald Trump, saying the two countries would work together to complete their efforts against Iran.

The issue has added to the tense atmosphere surrounding the election. Israel’s relationship with Iran has been a major security concern for years, particularly over Iran’s nuclear programme, missile capabilities and support for armed groups in the region.

Netanyahu, who has served as Israel’s prime minister longer than any other leader, has repeatedly placed security and military policy at the centre of his political message. His warnings about possible Iranian interference have become a significant part of his campaign as election day approaches.

The coming days will be closely watched for any developments that could affect security during the vote. Israeli authorities say the military is prepared to respond to potential threats, while Netanyahu has warned that any attempt to disrupt the election through attacks would carry serious consequences.
