Pablo Garcia Leaves Real Betis in Emotional Departure

Pablo Garcia left Real Betis on Tuesday night, just as he had arrived 14 years ago: with his family by his side. This time, they were in tears. The 20-year-old forward completed a deadline-day transfer to Racing Santander, ending his long association with the club.

Garcia, born in Seville, joined Betis’ academy at six and worked his way through youth teams. He scored four goals for Spain’s U19s against Germany but struggled to earn a regular spot in the senior team. Last season, he made 25 appearances mostly from the bench, scoring twice in a Copa del Rey match. This season, with Antony as Pellegrini’s preferred right-sided attacker, his path to first-team football became even clearer.

Hull City and Olympiacos showed interest but no deal materialized. Racing Santander stepped in late, agreeing to pay around €5 million for Garcia, who has a 50% sell-on clause for Betis. After the move, Garcia expressed hope of returning as Betis prepares for their Champions League debut against Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

Before leaving, Garcia bid an emotional farewell after scoring his first La Liga goal in an 83rd-minute winner against Valencia. His departure paved the way for Dani Ceballos’ return to Betis on a free transfer.
