Putin Warns Against European Troops in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that sending European troops to Ukraine could lead to a direct war between Europe and Russia. Speaking on Friday, Putin said that Moscow does not want to threaten European countries and has no plans to attack them.

According to Russian news agencies, Putin was responding to discussions among European leaders about the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine. He said that if European soldiers were deployed on Ukrainian territory, Russia would consider it a direct military confrontation with Moscow.

Putin also accused European governments of creating fear among their citizens by talking about a possible Russian threat. He said that Russia does not pose such a threat to Europe and claimed that European people are being warned about a danger that, according to him, does not exist.

Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Since then, the war has continued for several years, with Ukraine receiving military and financial support from Western countries. Moscow has repeatedly warned that the presence of Western military forces in Ukraine would cross a major red line.

The possibility of European countries sending troops to Ukraine has been discussed by some European leaders, especially in the context of providing security support and helping Ukraine in the future. However, European military forces have not been deployed to fight Russian troops in Ukraine.

Russia has long opposed Ukraine’s efforts to build closer relations with Western countries and join NATO. Moscow has argued that NATO’s expansion toward Russia’s borders is a major security concern. Ukraine and its Western allies, however, have rejected Russia’s justification for the invasion.

Putin’s latest comments show that Moscow continues to strongly oppose any direct involvement of European military forces in Ukraine. The warning comes as European countries continue to discuss how they can support Ukraine and help maintain its security while avoiding a direct military conflict with Russia.
