TVK Seeks Allies to Form Government
Chennai: After the Tamil Nadu Assembly election results, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor Vijay, has emerged as a major party by winning 108 seats. However, the party has fallen short of the 118 seats needed to form a majority government on its own.
Because of this situation, TVK is now actively seeking support from other parties, including the Congress, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), and Left parties such as CPI and CPM.
The Congress party, which won 5 seats, has already extended its support to TVK. The Communist Party of India (CPI) has also reportedly shown willingness to back the alliance.
However, TVK still needs at least 6 more seats to reach the majority mark, so discussions are continuing with VCK and other Left parties.
There are also reports of political negotiations and conditions being discussed informally, which has increased political tension in the state. Some reports suggest that VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan may be offered the post of Deputy Chief Minister if the alliance is formed, along with discussions about key political adjustments within constituencies.
There is also speculation that certain seat-sharing arrangements and resignations may be part of the negotiation process, although no official confirmation has been made by the parties involved.
VCK, CPI(M), and CPI had contested the election as part of the DMK alliance and each secured 2 seats, making their support important in the current political scenario.
As discussions continue, Tamil Nadu’s political future remains uncertain, with all major parties engaged in negotiations to form a stable government. The coming days are expected to be crucial in deciding whether TVK can secure enough support to take power.
