Allu Arjun’s Raaka Breaks Guinness World Record
Allu Arjun’s upcoming film Raaka has achieved a Guinness World Record even before its release. The film has set the record for the “Most People Motion-Captured in Real-Time” after 37 performers were captured simultaneously during a single motion-capture session. Guinness World Records officially certified the achievement on September 15, 2026.
Directed by Atlee and produced by Sun Pictures, Raaka is a science-fiction film starring Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone. The record-setting motion-capture exercise was carried out earlier in 2026 and involved performers ranging in age from four to 70 years.
Motion capture, commonly known as mocap, is a technology that records the movements of real performers and converts them into digital data. This data can then be used to create computer-generated characters and realistic digital scenes in films.
The Raaka team took the technology to a much larger scale by recording 37 performers at the same time. Tracking so many people together required the production team to accurately capture each person’s movements without losing or mixing their individual data.
The Guinness record attempt used 92 optical motion-capture cameras along with a specialised technical setup. The system included real-time visualisation using Unreal Engine, facial capture, witness cameras, synchronisation and other technologies to process the performers’ movements.
The official Guinness World Records listing identifies the record as being achieved by Sun TV Network Limited and director V. Arunkumar, also known as Atlee, for Raaka starring Allu Arjun. The record was achieved in Mumbai on September 15, 2026.
Allu Arjun and Atlee were presented with the Guinness World Records certificate following the achievement. The record has attracted attention because it demonstrates the increasing use of advanced virtual production and visual-effects technology in Indian cinema.
The achievement adds to the anticipation surrounding Raaka, which is being made on a large scale with a strong focus on science fiction and advanced visual effects. The film is expected to bring together technology, performance and large-scale filmmaking.
