Escalating Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza: Devastating Impact of Israel-Hamas Conflict

As the Israel-Hamas conflict enters its 29th day, the Gaza Strip continues to witness a tragic loss of life, with the death toll rising to a staggering 9,770. Among the casualties are 4,008 children and 2,550 women, as reported by the Palestinian Health Ministry. In the past 24 hours, 243 more Palestinians lost their lives, with 65 of them in airstrikes targeting residential buildings in refugee camps.

The toll extends to 24,173 injured individuals and 2,260 missing, including 1,270 children. The UN Office for Coordinated Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) highlights the dire situation, with 1.5 million people internally displaced in Gaza, with 717,000 seeking refuge in UNRWA facilities, 122,000 in hospitals, churches, and public buildings, and 110,000 in schools.

Overcrowding remains a critical concern, especially in UNRWA facilities, where more than 530,000 people are seeking shelter, further emphasizing the urgent need for humanitarian assistance and a resolution to the conflict.
