Gaza Strip Faces Humanitarian Crisis as Blackout Looms

The Gaza Strip is on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe as it faces a massive blackout due to a fuel shortage and halted electricity supply from Israel. Fuel reserves in the enclave are sufficient to run its sole power station only until Tuesday. If the situation persists, Gaza will be forced to shut down the power station, putting the lives of over 2 million people at risk, warns the local energy authority.

All electricity lines supplying Gaza from Israel have already stopped due to an Israeli government order following an attack by the Palestinian Hamas militant group. The authority is urgently calling on the international community to pressure Israel to reconnect power lines and provide the fuel needed to sustain vital services, including hospitals and water supply.
