70 FIRs Registered in Andhra Pradesh for Alleged Voter Deletion

Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena announced that 70 FIRs have been filed in ten districts of Andhra Pradesh related to the misuse of Form-7, allegedly aimed at deleting eligible voters without their notice. These cases involve bulk filing of Form-7 from various constituencies, and the FIRs have been lodged under relevant sections of the IPC, RP Act, and IT Act.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed the submission of periodic reports by the Police Department for the investigation of these cases. The ECI expressed concern about false information provided in Form-7 during its recent visit to Vijayawada and emphasized the need for strict action against malpractice. Additionally, during the Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls, 22,38,952 new voters were included, and 16,52,422 deletions were made based on thorough verification and surveys.
