Kharge Appeals for Justice Amid Agnipath Controversy

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge has penned a letter to President Droupadi Murmu, highlighting what he deems as “gross injustice” perpetrated against the country’s youth seeking regular employment in the armed forces due to the Agnipath scheme. Kharge urges the President, who is also the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces, to intervene and ensure justice for the affected aspirants. Expressing solidarity with the aggrieved youths, Kharge emphasizes the need to address their plight, which has left the future of nearly 2 lakh individuals uncertain.

He notes instances of reported suicides among disappointed applicants and calls for swift action to rectify the situation. Kharge recounts encounters with aspiring servicemen and women who were denied their opportunity to serve the nation despite being selected.

He criticizes the sudden implementation of the Agnipath scheme, highlighting its discriminatory nature and the uncertainty it brings to the job market for those enlisted. Kharge’s appeal underscores the urgency of addressing the grievances of the affected youths and restoring faith in the recruitment process for the armed forces.
