Telangana Government Discontinues Services of 22 Directors in Power Utilities

The Telangana government, through the Energy Department, has terminated the services of 22 Directors in four power utilities, namely TS Genco, TS Transco, TSSPDCL, and TSNPDCL, with immediate effect. The move is justified because their appointments were made without following due process.

The Principal Secretary (Energy), S.A.M. Rizvi, issued orders stating that the appointment of Directors on the Boards of various organizations in the Energy Department should be for an initial term of two years, extendable for one year at a time up to a maximum of two extensions, with a tenure not exceeding four years. Some Directors were serving in their roles for over a decade, prompting the government to initiate this change. The CMDs of the utilities have been instructed to initiate the appointment process for new Directors following the prescribed procedures.
