Y.S. Sharmila Demands Timely Pension Disbursal, Threatens Protest

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y.S. Sharmila called for the swift delivery of pensions to beneficiaries, urging State Chief Secretary K.S. Jawahar Reddy to prioritize the process. Expressing gratitude for the Election Commission of India’s intervention regarding alleged misuse of volunteer networks by the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), Sharmila emphasized the need for transparent distribution of government schemes.

She expressed concern over potential delays in pension disbursal, highlighting the Congress’s commitment to ensuring fair and efficient governance. Threatening a protest at the Chief Secretary’s office if pensions are not disbursed promptly, Sharmila stressed the importance of utilizing government employees’ services alongside volunteer systems.

She urged officials to adhere to the ECI’s directives and implement direct benefit transfer (DBT) mechanisms for expedited pension distribution, alleging deliberate delays by the government. Additionally, the induction of former TDP leader Ram Pullaiah Yadav into the Congress underscored Sharmila’s efforts to bolster party support ahead of upcoming political endeavors.
